Getting Around Singapore

Singapore has a robust public and private transport systems to help you get around the city. 

You can choose one of the following three main travel options. 

Public Transport (rail or bus)  

The rail network is called Mass Rapid Transit system (MRT) with a map shown below,

APPS for Public Transport Timing:

Land Transport Authority (LTA) has anintegrated transport application can be used to check the public bus transport timings and check the MRT (Rail) map (Android download, iOS download) 

Transport Card

It is Ezlink card. The instructions to get a Ezlink card is here.

Uber-like Options (Private Hire) 

  • Grab: https://www.grab.com/sg/transport/ 

  • Tada: https://tada.global/ 
  • Gojek: https://www.gojek.com/sg/ 
  • Ryde: https://www.rydesharing.com/ 

Taxi (Traditional/Flag-down) 

These are conventional licensed Taxis that are common to cities around the world. They are the only ones that can be flagged down on the road and implement kilometer-based metered pricing. 

The price for the first 1km is S$3.9-4.3, the price for every 400m thereafter or less up to 10km/every 350m thereafter or less after 10km/every 45 seconds of waiting or less is S$0.25 - 0.34.

  • If you are getting here by Train: 

    Alight at Upper Changi Station (DT34) on the Downtown Line. Take exit E 

  • If you are getting here by Bus: 

    - Alight at Bus Stop B96449, SUTD or B96441 Opp. SUTD when taking Bus Service Number 20 

    - Alight at Bus Stop B96041, Upper Changi Station/Opp SUTD or B96049, Upper Changi Station/SUTD when taking Bus Service Numbers 2, 5, and 24
